Flying Private in Connecticut

Have you ever dreamed of jetting off on a private plane? Contrary to popular belief, flying private is not a luxury reserved just for the mega rich. In fact, it’s never been more inexpensive to charter a plane, and if it fits into your travel budget, the benefits more than outweigh the costs.

The main reasons to fly private are clear: you will you save time in getting to your destination, be able bypass lengthy, and oftentimes invasive security screenings, and limit delays and cancellations. You will also be able to travel with total privacy and dignity, and experience true comfort during your flight. If you are traveling with children, you won’t have to worry about surly onlookers if you have an inconsolable toddler on board, and if you have pets, they are welcome on board usually with no additional fees. You also won’t have to worry about the size, weight, or number of suitcases you bring along, adding an extra layer of ease to your trip.

With many fleets departing from right here in Connecticut, you will be able to avoid the nightmarish New York airports, and deal with a significantly less amount of traffic. So, instead of wasting countless hours of your precious vacation or business travel time, consider booking a flight with one of the local area’s carriers.

Connecticut Air Charter Destinations operates out of Bradley International Airport in Hartford and offers flights to major New England beach destinations including Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, Cape Cod, and Block Island as well as Boston, Atlantic City and New York.

Though it’s a bit of a splurge, if you are tired of commuting on the Metro North trains, treat yourself to a flight with Shoreline Aviation. Flights to Midtown East in New York depart from Tweed Airport in New Haven year round. Or, if you’re heading across the Long Island Sound, you can opt for an East Hampton charter that lands in under 30 minutes.

While not technically in Connecticut, Westchester County Airport in White Plains is just over the border from Greenwich and offers flights just about anywhere you can imagine, including international flights. Talon Air Jets, are just a few of the carriers operating from this hub.

For the more budget conscious fliers, Reliant Air offers service from Danbury to ACK on what they call the “Nantucket Shuttle”. While not fully private, the shuttle it is definitely the most affordable option (with rates are as low as $275). The plane holds only 8 passengers per voyage, so it’s a far cry from a packed 737 commercial jet. Flights are seasonal, with daily service available typically from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
