PEZ Candy, Halloween and Stranger Things

Stranger Things are happening at the PEZ Factory in Orange! And by Stranger Things, I mean the hit Netflix series, which first aired in July of 2016.

Responding to a robust push from both PEZ and Stranger Things fans, PEZ collaborated with Netflix and developed Stranger Things PEZ Candy dispenser gift sets just in time to be given out as very special treats this Halloween season. Two variations of the dispenser gift packs were released, featuring Eleven and Mike and Lucas and Dustin. Each set is packaged in retro-style packaging and includes six PEZ Candy Refills.

“We had a lot of fan interest in creating these dispensers,” said PEZ Candy Marketing Manager Jeff Goodyear. “Stranger Things was one of the top fan requests we had.”

For those unfamiliar with the Stranger Things phenomenon, the thrilling Netflix original series is set in Indiana in 1983. The storyline orbits around school aged friends, a single mom, an escape child science experiment, a small town and an unexplainable alternative universe with a very scary presence. The award-winning series has gained a huge amount of traction and an unprecedented fan base. The second season was met with pure hysteria when it dropped in October of 2017 and fans everywhere are waiting, with bated breath, for the third season to come out.

Goodyear explained that the PEZ dispenser Stranger Things gift sets are box sets, so they have a bigger footprint, allowing for additional artwork, which makes them perfect for displaying, which collectors love.

Although there is nothing that would replace the excitement and delight of viewing season three, episode one, the next best thing for the Stranger Things fan in your life is a PEZ dispenser depicting their favorite characters.

Since 1927 PEZ Candy has been the pioneer of “interactive candy” creating a unique product that juxtaposes candy and fun. First marketed as a compressed peppermint candy in Vienna, Austria, the company then moved to America and set up shop in New York. It moved to Connecticut in the 60’s and today, PEZ sells and markets its products worldwide with locations in Orange, and Traun, Austria. Between them, the two locations distribute approximately 70 million dispensers and 5 billion candies per year. PEZ products have been a staple of American pop culture for decades and are popular collectibles for both kids and adults. They are now available in more than 80 countries worldwide.

Working tirelessly stay on trend, PEZ has created everything from Mickey Mouse PEZ dispensers to Muppets characters, Scooby Doo, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Garfield, Star Wars characters, Shrek and even the Frozen crew of Anna, Elsa and Olaf.

So although Stranger Things fans didn’t get the new season they were hoping for this Halloween, they did get what many may consider, the next best thing – PEZ Stranger Things dispensers, and that should make them happy!
