Total Health and Fitness

Creating a family, as well as a fitness community, Privé Swiss Fitness located bi-coastally at the shops at Water’s Edge in Westbrook, (formerly Fitness on the Water) as well as in southern California, is the place to go for total body health. Bringing the healing properties of the Swiss Alps to the shoreline, Privé Swiss has juxtaposed luxury fitness classes with experienced, highly trained instructors, putting together all the necessary ingredients to construct a complete mind, body, and soul health oasis.

Offering a wide array of fitness classes including; Pilates, barre, yoga, hot yoga (80 degrees), cardio rebounder, cycle strength, body sculpt and burn, cardio dance fusion, Zumba and their signature barefoot bands class created by Operations Director Dana Brown, Privé Swiss has a class for everyone. They even do specialty classes for bridal parties, bachelorette parties and more.

“We do some pretty cool stuff here, very cutting edge,” said Brown, who has a background in anatomy, biomechanics and body alignment. Her extraordinary, original barefoot bands class, which can’t be found anywhere else, was created to burn calories while defining your body, working on specific muscle groups. The class has been so successful and so well received that currently there is a waiting list to be part of it.

“It is a great class to stretch, sweat and strengthen all in one,” said Brown, who is proud of her creation and the fact that her class has a room all of its own, with bands of all different colors hanging from the ceiling.

“I wanted to combine a number of different classes into one new class that would be interesting and fun, while still working on fitness and strength and I think I’ve done that with this class,” said Brown with a smile.

In keeping with the calming goal of the Privé Swiss studio, guests are greeted by a soothing waterfall and a serene reception area as they enter. The overall tranquility of the luxury fitness space welcomes visitors completely and encapsulates them in a peaceful restorative environment.

“We are very focused on helping people achieve true health,” explained Brown.

She added, “We make sure that our classes are motivational and help to balance mind, body, and spirit because we want our customers to feel completely healthy and rejuvenated when they leave here.”

In addition to fitness classes, Privé Swiss also offers an infrared light therapy room; different color lights can treat different kinds of ailments such as; Lyme Disease, Insomnia, Depression and even Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), which is widespread in New England during the winter months.

There is also a sauna, high-end rain shower heads, keyless lockers and cool towels infused with lavender to help you relax, especially after a hot yoga class in the “hot” room. Brown explained that the temperature for these classes is only 80 degrees, but the higher temps make for a better work out because the heat keeps the muscles looser, which allows you to get more out of the exercise.

“We pretty much have everything someone is looking for when it comes to focusing on themselves and feeling good,” said Brown, as she showed off the Pilate’s room and equipment.

In addition, the Essex Wellness Center has linked up with Privé Swiss Fitness and offers holistic health services such as massage, acupuncture, facials and body treatments, and if you don’t live near Westbrook and you want to experience this new fitness center, not to worry, there is a satellite Privé Swiss Studio in Branford and more to come on the shoreline soon.

“We encourage everyone to stop in and see what we are all about. We offer something different in the form of fitness and we hope our customers leave here feeling like they have done more for themselves than just worked out their bodies, but instead reconnected with themselves and made themselves healthier and happier,” said Brown.
